After two successful seasons as an assistant coach, in the spring of 2015, I was promoted to head coach. With a lot of hard work, we won the league(Pro B) in 2016 in my first year and we are able to maintain the club in ProA in 2017, while working with the lowest budget in the league both years.
In 2017, I received an offer to coach Limoges CSP, one of the most prestigious clubs in France that had not made the playoffs in their previous two years. In our first year, we finished 4th, made the semifinals and qualified for the Top 16 in the Eurocup.
My experience of playing and learning from so many coaches from around the world has given me a wealth of basketball knowledge that I have mixed to create my own of vision of basketball and how it should be played and coached.
CREATE A TEAM / BUILD CONFIDENCE / STATISTICAL OBJECTIVES
CREATE A TEAM / BUILD CONFIDENCE / STATISTICAL OBJECTIVES
I look at my TEAM as a small business,
every player needs to have a role and feel as if they are the most important piece in order for the business to function. Respecting and caring for my team is the basis for creating team chemistry.
Playing with confidence is the key
for any individual or team success.
Instilling and maintaining individual and team confidence that trusts the staff is a must for any successful team.
I want to have the best defense, lead the league in rebounding, and average the most assists. These three areas of the game do not rely on talent but on determination, aggressiveness and pride.
My time inside the classroom and coaching young players has taught me how to find different ways and methods to teach the game of basketball. No matter the age of a player, everyone has something to learn and needs to be taught to reach a higher level.
Spending over half of my life in different countries and cultures has helped me to communicate and create relationships with my players and staff who all come different backgrounds.
Every season is a very long with many highs and lows. I manage my team by keeping a stable and balanced approach by never getting too high nor descending too low. Implicating and making every player and staff member feel important is the key to creating a group that works and fights for each other.
I consistently challenge and push my players to want more
and never be satisfied with where they are individually and
as a team. I set goals that may seem unobtainable that I push
my team to achieve.
My twenty plus years of playing and coaching at high levels has given me a wide range of basketball knowledge. Whether it be from my coaches in the States or overseas, I have learned and taken from each of them and created my own philosophy that I use to get my team better and find weaknesses
in my opponent.
“I have known Kyle Milling for over 15 years. When he first came to our club, he was a hard working player, when we had the opportunity to bring him back as an assistant coach, I was extremely excited. He worked with and improved drastically our young big men who unfortunately left after each season for my more lucrative contracts at a higher level. Kyle deserved a lot of the credit for their improvement. He also scouted and broke down video and helped in game preparation that helped the club reach the playoffs in each of his two seasons as an assistant. His tireless work ethic, knowledge, and results made the choice to promote him to head coach an easy one for me. In one year under the helm of our team, the results speak for themselves. Kyle led our team to the title with the 16th budget which is something that no one thought was possible.
Kyle has a very bright future as a coach and I know we have to take advantage of the time we have to continue working together.”

When we chose Kyle to come to limoges, limoges had not made the playoffs the two previous seasons after competing in the Euroleague. In his first season, he led limoges back to the top with a 4th place finish and semifinal appearance as well as a qualification for the Top 16 in the eurocup. his double nationality puts him at ease with the french, american and any other nationality of player. His basketball style is uptempo with a certain liberty that permits his players to feel comfortable while at the same time playing together with a common objective.
Working with Kyle, I saw the equal amount of energy he put into his practice preparation, video analysis, and game management that all helped lead to our success. He was able to manage the team and got the players to believe in themselves and accomplish something that no one thought was possible.
As his assistant, I witnessed how he built the team with discipline while at the same time giving his players confidence and freedom. He constantly communicated with the players and created a relationship with them and in return every player gave everything they had for him and the team.

CSP LIMOGES Basket Assistant coach 2015-2016
French national team - strength and conditioning coach
I had the pleasure to work with Kyle at Limoges CSP for almost two years, he is part of the modern coaches who know how to delegate and work with and have confidence with his staff. It was lucky for us to have Kyle has head coach in Limoges.
No matter what the circumstance was during the season, Kyle stayed accessible, loyal and true to himself while keeping a smile.
"When you look at teams, they are often the image of their coach. The San Antonio Spurs have Greg Popovich, one of the best coaches in the game. There is chemistry that exists between him and his players, and he makes sure that they practice and work hard.
The Hyeres Toulon Var Basket has Coach Milling. We all respect him. When it is time to work we all focus and get down to business. He pushes us while at the same time he respects us and cares about us.
I have never played on a professional team where everyone shares and passes the ball and no one cares about their stats. This year there was not a single player who played selfish or thought about their individual stats, we cared about winning as a team. We did not have the best team with the most talent like some other big teams, what the difference was, is that we played together and played hard.”
